In fact, Brazilians celebrate the holiday on the 12th of June and the festival is called ‘Dia dos Namorados’.
Who was St Valentine?
There is much debate about who St Valentine was and there are two main accounts about this mysterious saint. Many believe that he was a priest in Roman during the third century AD. One account implies that it may have been a temple priest who was beheaded for helping Christian couples get married. An alternative account claims that St. Valentine may have been the Bishop of Terni who was martyred by Claudius II.
