The Craftsmanship

Every Large Gold Heart Locket Necklace is made from solid 18-carat gold vermeil, a thick layer of real gold bonded to a sterling silver base, giving you the warmth and lustre of solid gold at a fraction of the price. It is hallmarked by the Edinburgh Assay Office with a full UK hallmark, so you can wear it with complete confidence in its quality and provenance.

The locket measures 30 mm high (including bail) x 25 mm wide x 8.75 mm deep, large enough to hold two standard-sized photos and to carry a meaningful engraving on the reverse. The pendant hangs from your choice of 18 carat gold vermeil chain in five lengths (18, 20, 22, 24 or 30 inches) and three styles, curb, belcher or rope, so you can find the perfect fit for your neckline.

Our studio team will then professionally scale, edit, print, and hand-cut your photos to fit perfectly inside the heart shape. We seal the photos with a protective layer so they stay secure. You don't need to worry about measuring or cutting tiny photos at home.

What is the difference between gold vermeil and solid gold?

This locket is made from 18-carat gold vermeil, which is a thick layer of real 18-carat gold bonded over a solid 925 sterling silver base. It gives you the beautiful warmth, weight, and lustre of solid gold, but at a more accessible price point. Unlike standard "gold plating," which uses a very thin layer of gold over cheap base metals, gold vermeil is a highly durable, regulated precious metal finish that is hallmarked by the Edinburgh Assay Office.

Will a gold vermeil locket tarnish or fade?

Because gold vermeil uses a thick layer of real gold, it is highly durable and designed for everyday wear. Under the tissue, you will find a ribbon-tied gift box containing a velvet storage pouch. Our pouches are made for us in the USA and incorporate Intercept® technology to keep your jewellery sparkling when it is not being worn.

In the envelope with your name on it, you will find a polish cloth to keep your silver or gold jewellery clean. There is also a ring sizer. Keep it in your jewel box as it will come in handy.
